Collette and I are getting low on finger paints, so I have decided to start making my own.
There was a recipe for easy, non-toxic paint mix that I found a while back, so I figured I’d try that. The ingredients are all things we have in the house, so it was easy to make.
And it’s safe if Collette puts it in her mouth, though it probably doesn’t taste very good.

You’ll need: salt, flour, hot water, food coloring, a bowl, a whisk, and a container to put the paint into.
You’ll need to mix equal parts salt, flour, and water.
Start out with 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of flour, and 1/2 cup of hot water. This way you don’t end up with too much, and if you need more, you can add another 1/2 cup of each.
Once you’ve added the salt, flour and hot water to the bowl, add your food coloring. You can make any color you want, and you don’t need to use a lot of food coloring. Whisk it until it’s smooth and all one color. Add more food coloring if you need to.
It will have a sort of grainy texture to it if the salt didn’t dissolve, but this wont hurt anything.
Once you’ve got it to where you want it, pour it into a container.
Now you have kid-friendly, non-toxic, easy to make paint!
The next step is to let the kids use it!
Collette wasn’t super excited to use it because my first batch (the only one I took photos of) ended up a little grainy. Picky kid! Haha.
